Why have you chosen to run for this office?
I want to bring a conservative business approach to the board. I want to help bring Guilford County through the troubled times we are in so that we may have a brighter future.

What distinguishes you most from your opponent?
I will listen to the people and work to make their voices heard. My opponent has had the chance and hasn't.

Key qualifications you would bring to the job
I am a father and husband and I know how hard it is to make ends meet. I am a businessman in Guilford County and I know what it takes to make things work during troubled times.

List you top three campaign issues and your stances on those issues (briefly, please)
My first goal is to bring a conservative business approach to Guilford County. Second, I want to work with the school board to improve education and lastly, I want to help law enforcement make Guilford County a safer place to live and work.

Are there areas of greater cooperation among Guilford County and the cities of Greensboro and High Point? If so, what are they?
I think that Guilford County and the city of Greensboro have worked well to bring safety to the forefront by implementing the Metro 911. As a region, we are working to solve the water problem with the Randleman dam.

The county is going to face increasing expenses because of escalating energy costs. How do you propose to deal with this?
We can do more with the idea of bio-fuels and flex fuels.

What role do incentives play in a declining national and regional economy?
We have to work to bring jobs to the area, and incentives play a huge role in attracting new businesses and jobs.

Should the county commissioners have more control over school construction?
I would like to see the system go with a standard set of plans for school construction.

For a number of years now, the board has earned a reputation for being sharply divided, often along party lines. Have things improved? If no, should they? If so, how?
Yes there has been a little. We need new ideas and get a fresh start on solving issues with Guilford County.

Does the county need a sales tax increase?
Yes. The property tax is getting way out of hand and this is hurting families. By having a sales tax this will let people from out of town help pay for new schools in Guilford County. This will help spread the burden.

What would you do differently from Mr. Perkins?
To start with I will listen to the people of Guilford County and be a spokesman for them; not just talk at them. I will try to work with other commissioners to bring about results that will improve the lives of the people of Guilford County.

What are issues from your district that need to be addressed?
Schools and the safety inside schools, public safety and growth in the area.
