All Guilford County Schools students will have their own e-mail address when the school year begins.
School officials say the e-mail accounts, which will follow K-12 students throughout their tenure in the district, will be heavily filtered for inappropriate pictures, language, Internet bullying and other things.
Parents can decide not to give their children the e-mail account.
Administrators hope e-mail will serve as a more efficient way to communicate with older students as well as teach younger students how to use e-mail and the Internet. Students will have the option to access their e-mail accounts wherever they have Internet access.
