( 6:38 pm)

GREENSBORO -- The Guilford County Board of Education has narrowed its list of eligible applicants to two finalists and will release their names on Monday.

Members of the public and employees with Guilford County Schools will get to meet the finalists on Wednesday, according to a statement released Friday evening by the district. The public meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the central office, 712 N. Eugene St.

The school board intends to name a new leader by the start of school on Aug. 26. This person would replace former superintendent Terry Grier, who left in March to oversee the San Diego Unified School District.
