Online ticket scalping plan headed to Easley
RALEIGH (AP) - Consumers looking for tickets to sold-out events will have some protection if they go shopping on the Internet under a bill headed to Gov. Mike Easley.
The House and the Senate approved a plan Friday creating an exemption in North Carolina's no-scalping law.
Current law prohibits resale of seats for more than $3 above face value, but that hasn't stopped some sellers from scalping tickets on the Web.
The measure headed to the governor would make reselling tickets online legal for 11 months starting in August.
Vendors will file monthly reports about their sales and guarantee customers that their tickets are legitimate
The compromise plan was hammered out by lawmakers as they try to adjourn for the year.
