Two Guilford County Schools educators were arrested this week on charges they used a computer to solicit a child for sex. A third educator from North Carolina also was arrested, the Guilford County Sheriff's Office said today.

Deputies allege that the three initiated conversations of a sexual nature with an undercover deputy posing as a 13- and 14-year-old girl in Internet chat rooms.

David Brian Seus, 30, of 4508 Garden Club St. in High Point was arrested Tuesday by Guilford County sheriff's deputies and charged with using a computer to solicit a child for sex. He was released Wednesday after posting a $5,000 bond, jail records show.

Seus was a Western Guilford High School teacher assistant and lacrosse coach. He resigned Thursday.

Kevin Devahl Samuel, 46, of 2712 Glasshouse Road in Jamestown was arrested Thursday and charged with soliciting a child by computer. He was held Friday morning in the Greensboro Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Samuel began working for Guilford County Schools in August 2000. He most recently taught math for exceptional children at High School Ahead Academy in Greensboro. He resigned effective today.

David Frank Pace, 57, of 68 Hog Rock Road in Hendersonville was charged with two counts of using a computer to solicit a child for sex. Pace was employed as a contruction teacher by Hendersonville Public Schools, Sheriff BJ Barnes said. He had been a teacher for 15 years. Pace was held in jail under a $190,000 bond.

Guilford deputies worked with Buncombe County detectives on the case inolving Pace. Additional charges are possible.

Barnes said in a morning news conference that the investigation did not target teachers.

"To come up with three teachers in a short period of time was a little unusual," he said.

Guilford County Schools is conducting its own internal investigation.

"The safety and welfare of children is the district's top priority, which is why GCS conducts stringent criminal background checks on all individuals recommended for employment and performs checks annually on a random sample of all employees, including substitutes," the district stated in a news release.
