Greensboro is state's 2nd 'textiest city'

A new study from Verizon Wireless says North Carolina finds itself in the midst of “a text messaging phenomena.”

The study of 12 Southeastern states says sending text messages — particularly popular among the teen and college crowds — has jumped 600 percent in the last 24 months among Tar Heel customers.

Turns out that Greensboro is the state’s second “textiest city” — at 76.91 million messages sent in April — behind Charlotte (103 million) and just ahead of Shelby (76.90 million). Bion.

Overall that month, North Carolina ranked fourth with 526.9 million messages, behind Tennessee (991.7 million), Texas (769.1 million) and Georgia (683.6 million).

Fawc, the region’s customers totaled 4.1 billion messages in April.
