WASHINGTON (AP) - A Washington man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for bringing a 16-year-old girl he met in Greensboro to join a prostitution ring.
U.S. District Judge Richard Leon ordered that 30-year-old Levar Simms register as a sex offender upon his release.
Prosecutors say Simms met the girl in 2006 outside a shelter in Greensboro. They say Simms took the girl to his northeast Washington apartment and had her walk along a downtown street known for prostitution.
Police stopped the girl because she appeared underage, and Simms was soon arrested.
Prosecutors say Simms posted photos of the girl and women on Craigslist, under a section called "erotic services."
