Members of the Sedalia Planning Board took a step toward creating the town's comprehensive plan in April when they delegated responsibilities.
Now they need input from residents.
"We're inviting people out to share their dreams and goals for the town," said Will Dungee , the board's vice chairman.
The invitation is to the board's second quarterly meeting this year on July 26.
Residents will receive a letter or postcard later this month with details of the meeting.
Dungee is the head of the marketing and outreach stage of the comprehensive planning. His most recent task was to draft a letter inviting residents to the Saturday meeting.
In Thursday's regular planning board meeting, Dungee presented a rough draft of the letter to the board.
"This makes me feel like we have a good start," Chairman Duane Bryant.
In addition to asking for feedback from residents, the board also wants to form focus groups to help develop the plan.
"This is a way to start a process of getting folks involved with working with the town," Bryant said.
Board member Jeremy Barksdale agrees.
"We want to focus on building a relationship with those citizens so that they will come back," he said.
The July 26 meeting will be set up similar to a workshop. The planning board is asking that residents come between 9:30 and 11 a.m. to give their input on the town's future.
At the end of the meeting with residents, the board will discuss those suggestions and how they can incorporate them into the comprehensive plan.
