HIGH POINT - It was a bloody Sunday in High Point - two shooting deaths and a stabbing. Suspects have been arrested in one of the shootings and the stabbing.

The stabbing happened early Sunday when two women fought just before 4 a.m. at 1008 Asheboro St. Police said Marquita Shimaine Evans, 25, of 304 Taylor Ave. stabbed Latonya Spann, 28, with a glass bottle, cutting her head and both arms.

Evans fled, police said, but turned herself in after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. She remains in the Guilford Counnty jail in High Point on Tuesday on a $90,000 bond.

The first shooting took place just before 5 p.m. Sunday. Police responded to the Rosewood Apartments at 1718 East Kivett Drive, where they found a person shot in the parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene when Guilford Emergency Medical Services arrived.

The victim's next of kin had not been identified Monday afternoon, so police did not release information Monday evening about the victim or any possible suspects.

Hours later, a second shooting occurred at 1449-A West Ave., part of the Daniel Brooks public housing community. When police arrived at 10:22 p.m., they found Priscilla Ann Taylor, 38, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to High Point Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said they learned that Taylor had recently initiated legal proceedings against Charles Winston Turner Sr., 55, of the address where the shooting occurred. She had had a romantic relationship with him, police said.

Hours after her death, police tracked Turner to a house on Underhill Street, where they found him hiding in a crawl space. He was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held without bail in the Guilford County jail in High Point.

Lt. Steve Myers of the High Point Police Department said the incidents were not related.
