North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson is questionable for tonight's game at Ohio State because of an ankle injury.

Lawson went through a limited practice Tuesday, but his status for tonight won't be determined until UNC medical officials and coaches see how his ankle responded after the workout.

Lawson suffered a sprained right ankle Saturday night in the top-ranked Tar Heels' victory over Brigham Young in the Las Vegas Invitational championship game.

Williams said before Tuesday's practice: "If he did some things today, then I could see him playing" tonight in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge (9, ESPN).

If Lawson can't play, junior Bobby Frasor will start.

"I'm not saying, 'Woe is me,'" Williams said. "Bobby Frasor did lead us to 23 wins two years ago." -- Jim Young

TEXAS TECH: Two people said coach Bob Knight or his hunting companion hit them with birdshot on two occasions last month. Neither person was injured or required medical treatment, and no criminal charges were filed against Knight.

Mary Ann Chumley said she was struck on the foot by a stray pellet Oct. 20 in an incident she characterized as an accident. She said Knight apologized for hunting too close to her barn, and she forgave him.

Another resident near the dove field said the coach and another hunter returned the next day, and one of them intentionally fired a shotgun in his direction. James Simpson told Lubbock police he was struck on the neck and back by pellets after yelling at Knight and another man he thought were hunting too close to his house. Simpson's backyard is about 100 yards from where Chumley was struck the previous day. Knight described allegations that shots were intentionally fired at Simpson as "ridiculous."

INDIANA: Guard Jordan Crawford has been suspended for three games for violating team rules, coach Kelvin Sampson said just minutes before the 15th-ranked Hoosiers played Georgia Tech. Crawford, a freshman, has been a key reserve, averaging 12.6 points.

ARIZONA: Coach Lute Olson, on a leave of absence since Nov. 4, will return for some practices, but not for games just yet. Assistant Kevin O'Neill will keep his interim head coaching title for now. Olson showed up at practice Monday night after three weeks away from the team he has coached for 25 years. Olson, 73, left for unspecified personal reasons.

"He is not going to coach games at this point," O'Neill said. "There is absolutely no timetable."
