GREENSBORO - A truck stuck under a railroad bridge tied up traffic near the intersection of Lee and Aycock streets this morning.

About 10 a.m. the driver of a box truck was driving north on Aycock Street when he lodged the truck under the bridge, Officer B.K. Burnett of the Greensboro police said.

The driver did not see the sign marking the height of the bridge, 11 feet and 9 inches. Burnett estimated the truck was more than 12 feet tall.

A tow truck pulled the truck out from under the bridge, which was not damaged. The roof of the truck was "yanked back like a sardine can," Burnett said.

Traffic was backed up at the intersection for about an hour. The driver, Garry Robert Cook, 36, of Archdale, was not hurt.

Burnett said trucks often get stuck under the bridge.
