Got 30 minutes? You can get a workout

Planet Fitness's circuit workout is like the grown-up version of Red Light/Green Light.

An optimistic view? Perhaps.

But try it on for size.

This do-it-yourself fitness routine has gym-goers set their own pace, select appropriate weights and chug along for 30 minutes of cardio and strength training.

A big ol' traffic light mounted on the wall switches from green to red every minute, alerting sweaty patrons to move to the next station.

Thirty seconds later the red light turns green, and it's time to get going on the new routine.

Odd numbers are strength machines such as lateral pulls, leg presses and arm curls. Even numbers send you to a bank of aerobic steps.

Go slow and gentle if you're new to exercise or recovering from an injury; pump it up for a more intense experience.

Befuddled by the fancy equipment?

Trainers will happily take you through the 20 stations to find the right weights for your fitness goals and ensure you're comfortable on the equipment.

In the time it takes to watch "The Office," you're done with the daily workout.

I had some trouble pacing myself, but a few times through the circuit (or consultation with a trainer) would fix that right up.

If you're all about a solitary, no-nonsense workout, this is the perfect solution.
