GREENSBORO -- A hearing on a proposed golf-course community adjoining Haw River State Park has been delayed six weeks to allow more time for negotiations between state government and the would-be developer.

Paul Gibson, chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, granted a request by Florida developer Bluegreen Corp. to postpone the Oct. 18 hearing on the proposed Patriot’s Landing development.

The project is being planned on land the state also wants for addition to the park. Park supporters filed an appeal in August after Bluegreen won approval of the project from the Guilford County Planning Board.

The new hearing would be likely he held Dec. 6.
