Jeremy Bridges returned to the Carolina Panthers from a two-game suspension Monday and apologized for his arrest on an assault charge in the offseason.

Bridges was projected to be Carolina's starting right guard until he was charged a day before training camp started with pointing a gun at a woman outside a strip club. The Panthers suspended him for two regular-season games. Bridges, who has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge, refused to discuss details of his case. His trial date is set for Oct. 2.

"I feel like I put the coaching staff and my teammates in a bad situation by me not being there," he said.

Coach John Fox was noncommittal on whether Bridges would start Sunday at Atlanta. The Panthers have until Wednesday to clear a roster spot for Bridges.

The Panthers also brought back former N.C. A&T defensive back Curtis Deloatch and put fellow cornerback Dante Wesley on injured reserve. Wesley suffered a broken collarbone on the opening kickoff against Houston.

RAVENS: Coach Brian Billick accused the Jets of using an illegal ploy to draw Baltimore offside during Sunday's game. Billick said the Jets' defense shouted out signals to intentionally throw off the Ravens' offense. Billick said the tactic led to the three illegal procedure penalties.

"Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught." ...

Defensive end Trevor Pryce was injured in the game and will miss at least three weeks after undergoing surgery on his broken left wrist. Quarterback Steve McNair, who missed the game because of a strained groin, is expected to practice Wednesday and might play Sunday against the Cardinals..

TITANS: Coach Jeff Fisher's contract was extended through 2011. It's thought to be worth $5.5 million to $6 million per year. Fisher, the longest-tenured active coach with one franchise, is in his 13th season. ... Defensive backs coach Chuck Cecil was arrested and charged with drunken driving and violating Tennessee's implied consent law by refusing a blood alcohol test the night before the team's loss to Indianapolis.

BILLS: Tight end Kevin Everett is showing some movement in both hands and greater strength in his leg muscles, further positive signs after a life-threatening spinal cord injury.

Bills doctor John Marzo said Everett "continues to make daily improvement in his neurological status."

TEXANS: Receiver Andre Johnson is doubtful for Sunday's game against Indianapolis after suffering a sprained left knee against Carolina, coach Gary Kubiak said.

FALCONS: One day after Matt Prater missed two field-goal attempts in a 13-7 loss to Jacksonville, the Falcons cut him and signed 47-year-old Morten Andersen, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and the NFL's career scoring leader with 2,445 points. Andersen was Atlanta's kicker in 1995-2000 before returning to the team last year.

GIANTS: Rookie receiver Steve Smith probably will miss at least two games with a broken shoulder blade. Smith was hurt after catching a pass Sunday against Green Bay.
