GREENSBORO — A man was killed Thursday afternoon while attempting to climb a fence in the median of U.S. 29 near Lee Street
Police Lt. Brian Cheek said a 911 call about 3 p.m. reported an intoxicated man walking in and out of traffic.
When emergency officials arrived at the scene, the 52-year-old man was found on the ground and CPR was administered.
The victim was taken to Moses Cone Hospital and later died, police said.
Police did not say if the man had been struck by a vehicle. The far left lane of the highway near the Lee Street exit was shut down for more than an hour while police investigated. The lane reopened just before 6 p.m.
No other information was available late Thursday night.
