GREENSBORO - Punches. Smacks. Cops. Ejections.
Another night of baseball at First Horizon Park.
On Friday, brawls erupted for a second night as the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Kannapolis Intimidators slugged it out. And we mean that cliché literally.
This time, benches cleared in the top of the third inning, after Intimidator Scotty Madsen slid into second with his spikes up - perhaps a little too up for the Hoppers. With South Atlantic League President John Henry Moss looking on, players fought for about five minutes, until officials got both teams back into their dugouts.
Unlike Thursday's melee, this one ended quickly, didn't result in as many ejections and didn't force players into their respective clubhouses when they weren't at bat or playing defense.
Moss, you might remember, had to reinstate suspected players over the phone Thursday so the game could resume.
