A new shopping center is taking shape in the town of Oak Ridge.

68 Place, off N.C. 68 at Fogleman Road, will be the future home of businesses and offices, including the real estate office of Kurt and Cindy Kusche of Team Kusche, who are also developing the site.

Kurt Kusche declined to provide details about future tenants. Town planner Bill Bruce said the construction appears to be moving quickly at the site.

"I don't know what the slated date for construction completion is, but they seem to be making a lot of progress every day," Bruce said. Bruce said the shopping center will have four buildings.

The site was rezoned highway business from agricultural at the September 2006 Oak Ridge Town Council meeting.

The development was frowned upon by several residents living in the adjacent subdivision, Twelve Oaks, Bruce said.

Bruce said neighbors were concerned that the shopping center would cause noise and light pollution in their residential community.
