STOKESDALE — Within two days of her sister's death, Rockingham County deputies say Taylor Moseley was involved in an assault and robbery of more than $250 in marijuana.
"It's seems like when it rains, it pours," her father, Terry Moseley, said Tuesday.
Last week, Taylor Moseley, 16, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Her sister Emily Moseley, 19, died in an alcohol-related car accident on Aug. 17, according to the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement officials.
Her death led to Terry Moseley being charged with giving alcohol to minors — which he denies.
Terry Moseley wouldn't comment on charges against Taylor Moseley in connection with the robbery.
According to the sheriff's office, Taylor Moseley with Justin Franklin Malloy, 17, of 501 Lauren Road and Michael Kelly Hodgin, 19, of 9023 Kelly Lee Court, all of Stokesdale, assaulted and robbed a man on Aug. 19.
Michael Wayne Neugent, 18, of 160 Sky Drive, Madison, reported that he'd been attacked, said Dean Venable, spokesman for the sheriff's office.
Neugent told deputies that he argued with a group of people about 12:30 a.m. near his home. Someone struck Neugent in the head with a pistol, Venable said, and stole $250 in marijuana.
Neugent told police that he heard gunshots as he ran away and that he thought he had been shot, Venable said.
But Neugent was bleeding from the earlier blow to the head.
Hodgin, Malloy and Taylor Moseley were arrested last week, each charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Hodgin and Malloy were being held Tuesday at Rockingham County Jail under $100,000 bond, Venable said.
Taylor Moseley was released after posting bond. She has a Sept. 10 hearing in court.
That's just the latest in a string of difficult events for her family.
Earlier this month, Taylor Moseley was in the same accident that killed her older sister, Emily Moseley.
From that day's events — the teenagers had access to alcohol, officials said — Terry Moseley is facing several charges related to providing alcohol to underage individuals.
On Aug. 16, officials said, Terry Moseley, his two daughters, and their friend Richard Farlon Oakley, 18, of Stokesdale, drove to Greensboro, where Terry Moseley bought four minibottles of liquor.
Alan Fields, district supervisor for Alcohol Law Enforcement, said the teenagers began drinking and took the prescription medication Xanax shortly after the liquor was bought.
Terry Moseley said Tuesday that he didn't give the teens anything.
After lunch, the Moseley sisters and Oakley went to a party in Walnut Cove. The party was hosted by Stephen Dale McBride, 52, Sandra McBride 45, and their son, Stephen Lee McBride, 21, officials said.
At the party, alcohol enforcement officials said, the Moseley sisters and Oakley had beer and vodka and took Xanax.
The McBrides were later charged in connection with giving alcohol to teenagers.
Oakley and the sisters left the party about 11:30 p.m. to go back to Stokesdale, Fields said, and Emily Moseley had lain down in the back seat of the car.
About 12:30 a.m. Aug. 17, Oakley lost control of his car.
The car flipped, and Emily Moseley was thrown from it and killed, Fields said. Oakley and Taylor Moseley had minor injuries.
After losing one daughter, facing charges himself, and the arrest of his other daughter, Terry Moseley said Tuesday he wants to get on with things.
"Everything is on the straight and narrow road now, I can tell you that," he said.
