Critics of a proposed golf-course community next to Haw River State Park have started their own Web site to rally opposition to the project.
The site, http://www.CitizensForHawRiverSP.org, went online Monday with information that includes a map of the proposed Patriot’s Landing development, a letter from the state Division of Parks and Recreation opposing the project and a schedule of upcoming governmental hearings related to the proposal.
Patriot’s Landing is a planned, 775-home development and a 182-acre golf course on land the state park system also wants for the fledgling park in northern Guilford and southern Rockingham counties. It is proposed by a Florida developer, Bluegreen Corp.
Citizens for Haw River State Park is a citizens group led by a five-person board of directors that includes former Greensboro mayor Carolyn Allen.
