BURLINGTON - A 16-year-old has been arrested in what police believe may have been retaliation attempt for an earlier shooting in Graham.

Allante Reatta Donnerell Murray, 16, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon in the shooting of Jamal Lee Haith, 19, Burlington police said.

Haith was shot at 3 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Chandler Avenue, Burlington police said. He was transported by private vehicle to Alamance Regional Medical Center where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was later transferred to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for further treatment.

Murray is being held on $500,000 bond.

Police in Burlington and Graham and the SBI are investigating three shootings in Alamance County that may be connected. Investigators believe Haith's shooting may be retaliation for a shooting that happened in Graham Saturday.

At 2:30 p.m., Graham police officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of 622 E. Parker St. They found Paul Edward Lloyd Jr., 37, of 4613 Hopewood Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He is in stable condition, police said.

While Graham police were investigating Lloyd's shooting, officers were told that another person was also shot. Police searched a wooded area next to 257 Flowers St. in Graham, where they found the body of Jerrad Watlington, 16, at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

It is not clear whether Watlington was also shot in the parking lot where Lloyd was shot, Capt. Jeff Prichard of the Graham police said.

Lawrence Donnell Flood Sr., 32, of Newark, N.J., has been charged with murder early Monday morning in the death of Douglas Jerrad Watlington, 16.

Police are uncertain of a motive in the shootings and an investigation is continuing, Prichard said.

No one has been charged in Lloyd's shooting, although a suspect is being interviewed, he said.
