What is your vision for what Greensboro can and should be?

Yvonne Johnson:

My vision for Greensboro is that this city will be one of the best places in the country to live, to work and to conduct business, a city that ranks high in quality of life, provides economic opportunity for everyone and a city where people feel safe going about their business. I envision Greensboro as a city that takes advantage of its social capital, enabling us to come together to fulfill our destiny as one community.

I believe we can achieve this vision by providing citizens with high quality city services that are delivered efficiently and economically, by seizing opportunity to provide green space when opportunity presents itself, by working hard to bring new jobs to Greensboro and striving to create a climate where existing businesses can thrive and prosper, by supporting our police department and promoting strong neighborhoods, and by leveraging one of Greensboro's greatest assets -- its people.

Milton Kern:

Greensboro is a good city. As Mayor, I want to make it great.

I am not running for mayor to play it safe or to continue business as usual. I will be a Mayor who provides leadership in tough times so we do not get bogged down in petty matters, but focus on what is most important -- doing what is best for all the people of Greensboro.

Greensboro can and should be a model for efficient and open government; enhancing the quality of life of our neighborhoods through affordable housing, attracting new and better jobs, and addressing livability issues; and providing our police and fire departments the resources they need to improve morale so they can adequately protect the people of our great city.

As Mayor, my vision is to work together as a community, as a team, bringing people together to get things done. We may not always agree on the right answer, but my door will always be open to everyone so we can sit down and find common sense solutions to our most pressing problems and move Greensboro forward in a positive direction.

Greensboro is a good city. As Mayor, I will make it great.
