Dashers turn Mashers for Urban Ministry

About 20 of the Downtown Dashers, an early-morning running group at the Bryan Family YMCA, will be among the many volunteers who are assisting Greensboro Urban Ministry in preparing its community Thanksgiving Day meal. The Dashers will become the Mashers of potatoes early Thursday morning.

A by-the-numbers look at what all of the volunteers will be working with in serving those in need in Greensboro:

4,000: Number of people who will be served.

1,200: Pounds of turkey.

300: Pounds of ham.

1,000: Pounds of sweet potatoes.

1,000: Pounds of mashed potatoes.

1,000: Pounds of green beans.

1,000: Pounds of stuffing.

250: Pounds of cranberry sauce.

8,000: Rolls.

575: Pumpkin pies.

500: Gallons of milk.

$12,000: Cost of the meal.
