Julian's authority

I've seen it happen numerous times. Mostly it's Apple. She'll be walking upstairs, see Julian sitting on the landing, make an aburpt stop and give him the widest possible berth.

That's just the way the other cats see him. And for the most part, I believe that is how peace has been reached in my house.

Julian's not really a fan of the other cats. But they leave him alone and he goes about his life like he's an only cat.

The most noticeable thing the girls do is avoid him, like Apple's maneuver on the stairs. She does it other times, mainly when she rounds a corner and he's there. Libby does it as well. Maybe since she has problems with Abbey, her plate is full enough.

Speaking of Libby, I witnessed her take an extreme effort to avoid Julian the other day. Rather than just walk around him, she leaps to the half-wall next to the stairwell, walks along its edge, then jumps down to the floor and continues down the stairs. That's a bit out of the way just to avoid walking near Julian.

But he wouldn't have it any other way.
