Here's a more detailed schedule of events for the Black World Series, which begins in earnest today. The opening ceremonies were Wednesday night at War Memorial Stadium.
Two U-19 games were played at the stadium after the opening ceremony, and Greensboro R&B Aggies beat South Harlem 9-1, and Ronnie Burkes hit a home run for the Aggies. Cali (Oakland) won 4-1 over New Orleans.
Single-game tickets are $5, or $20 for a weekend pass.
Today
8 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Games played thoughout baseball parks in Greensboro and Guilford County.
7 p.m.: Bobby Bonds, Sr. Symposium at Harrison Auditorium on the N.C. A&T campus. Panelists include Minor League Baseball President Pat O’Conner, Rickie Weeks, Sr., father of Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Rickie Weeks, and James Gooch, interim associate vice chancellor for academic affairs at N.C. A&T, among others.
Friday
8 a.m.: Games continue at various locations.
Saturday
3 p.m.: U-10 championship at Barber Park.
6 p.m.: U-12 championship at Barber Park.
8 p.m.: U-14 championship at War Memorial Stadium.
Sunday
Noon: U-16 championship at War Memorial Stadium
3 p.m.: U-19 championship at War Memorial Stadium
