Raleigh's mayor attacks outsiders 'who don't share our values'

Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker is trying to drum up support for a possible lawsuit against the Wake County Board of Education over its decision to abandon a busing-for-diversity student assignment plan, The N&O reports.

He apparently doesn't think the board's decisions are legitimate because some of its members are relative newcomers to Wake County.

"We have people who are not from the area, don't share our values, who are the majority on the school board," he said.

All right. Never mind the merits of the issue, which would resonate just about everywhere across North Carolina. The Guilford County Board of Education long ago abandoned diversity as a priority and has yet to be sued over it.

What's astounding is Meeker's attitude toward newcomers, who have ballooned Wake County's population to largest in the state. What's CARY stand for? Containment Area for Relocated Yankees, isn't it?

These relocated Yankees have contributed to Wake County's prosperity and vibrancy, but suddenly they "don't share our values"

He's referring directly to some school board members, but of course his remarks would apply as well to the voters who elected them.

Just as he thinks the actions of the elected school board members should be challenged, he also must feel that the judgments of the voters should be repudiated as well.

Remarkable. When does he come up for re-election?

The reality of the situation is that had it not been for the large number of "good"conservative sane thinking intelligent northerner transplants to Wake County there wouldnt be this novel neighborhood school concept anyway and the old outdated universally failed diverse social experiment one discarded in the first place.

We know there is always the "bad" northern liberal scumbag transplant such as Meeker who needs to be run out of town with the horse he rode in on but we can assure you as well as you know that no southerners could have engineered this change without being dragged to hell in a handbasket as a racist from the real racist libs who demand their way like the spoiled brat babies they are while whining pouting and crying 24/7 for the last 50 yrs.

Its the same all over America. Socialist engineering is a total failure. Busing was a complete abject failure. Integration that is socially engineering in any form including in society itself is a flawed monkey as usual and nothing but Marxism straight out of the Manifesto in 1848.

So lets get real. While there are some idiots from above the Mason Dixon line who are stilling fighting the Lincoln Marxist War of 150 yrs ago and think they own the south where it all began 500 yrs ago, the majority are intelligent conservative rational "good" transplants. You always have a few bad apples in anything.

Remarkable. When does he come up for re-election?* Doug

Not anytime soon! Charlie is right! Since when does a Republican control school board who has cheated to gain control by Democrat stupidity has the right to claim racist bigoty from the 50's as their standard for educational equal rights.....

Doug is on target. Meeker is happy to have their votes until they don't agree with him, then he disowns them. Neighborhoods are surely more integrated than ever, but we should concede that there are still predominantly minority pockets of low socioeconomic status. But why should the school district go to the added expense and added liability to have district wide forced bussing? Perhaps a better solution is to have more selective and or voluntary participation. With the acheivement gap widening between the white and minority school populations, there is certainly no educational reason to continue the policy.
