Blust engaged

A little birdie told me that Rep. John Blust is engaged.

The Greensboro Republican confirmed that this morning. There’s no date for a wedding set yet, he said.

According to Blust, the lucky girl is Maria Barton of Greensboro, who I count among my Facebook friends. Although she's not an elected official, Maria is a die-hard Republican.

The pair met three years ago at a political event, I’m told.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Let me be the first to congratulate the lucky couple. I have known both Maria and John for many years and am very happy for them. I hope that John will let me be the ring bearer in the wedding.

Connie, that's classless even by your standards. If two people can find happiness in this world together, there's really no reason to piss on their parade.

To answer the factual question, I believe this is Blust's first marriage.
