The Salvation Army staff had noticed many customers sitting in their cars, waiting for the nonprofit's boutique off North Elm Street in Greensboro to open at 10 a.m.
Hoping to ease the wait, The Salvation Army Select is now opening earlier, or 9 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on Saturdays.
The store bears its name because the merchandise reflects name brands. It's at 3610-H North Elm St.
Hours are now 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday. Number is 235-2662.
Sales from the store help The Salvation Army’s boys & girls clubs, which operate six activity and education programs in Greensboro.
Store proceeds also help pay for The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope shelter, which works to help people get back on their feet and become self-sufficient.
The store also accepts donations of clothing, household items and furniture during business hours.
All donations are tax deductable.
