Southwest Airlines' 3-day sale takes off
Want to get away? For $39?
Southwest Airlines said Tuesday it will sell tickets starting at $39 each way on some routes under 500 miles.
But you'll have to take a little road trip. Southwest's closest hub from the Triad is at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Details are lacking regarding how many seats it will offer at sale prices. Friday and Sunday flights aren't included.
Sale ends Thursday and covers travel from March 15 through May 25.
Delta, American, United, Continental and US Airways matched the sale prices on routes where they compete with Southwest, Tom Parsons, CEO of BestFares.com, told The Associated Press.
Fellow discount carriers JetBlue and AirTran matched on some routes, he said.
