Just when you thought you've seen it all.
Now comes the next big thing: 3-D televisions.
Not here yet. You still have to go the cinema or places including the Greensboro Natural Science Center to get your 3-D fix. But you'll start seeing 3-D TVs on store shelves as early as next year.
Sony is one of the companies on board. It expects 3-D compatible TVs to account for up to half of all the TVs sold by the company in three years.
Not that watching something on your TV in 3-D is new. I remember a mass-marketing campaign when I was in high school regarding televising the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" in 3-D. I think you got your 3-D glasses at 7-11 or some place.
Expect to pay a pretty penny regarding 3-D TVs. That just goes with the territory regarding any new technology. Then prices will eventually start to drop.
Just look at flat screens. on Black Friday, you can get a 50-inch Sanyo plasma HDTV at Walmart for $598. That was unheard of less than a year ago.
