Shops, restaurants we want in the Triad

I still get an e-mail once in a while regarding a list I compiled in March based on what shops and restaurants we'd like to see in the Triad.

The latest e-mail came from Jean Allen, who'd like to see a Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes come to Greensboro. Plus a Trader Joe's, one of the most popular reader suggestions.

She writes: "The addition of these two establishments would make a lot of people very happy!"

Something missing from the list? Let me know and I'll add it.

How about a diner place that serves local, healthy non-greasy breakfast ... with real maple syrup and fresh fruit from local orchards? Not a chain ... not Tex/Shirleys ... not Smith Street ... a healthy option.

First: Trader Joes.

I'd also love to know why Greensboro doesn't have a Coach store...Raleigh and Charlotte each have more than one, and even smaller southern cities (Columbia, Charleston, etc.) have locations! I'm not the only 20something shopper dying for a Coach store in the Triad!

Also, although I'm not a big fan, Polo Ralph Lauren would be a welcome addition to the new shops at Friendly Center.

Most importantly, though, Trader Joe's.
