Did evangelicals have a role in Uganda's death sentence for gay behavior?

"Last March, three American evangelical Christians, whose teachings about “curing” homosexuals have been widely discredited in the United States, arrived here in Uganda’s capital to give a series of talks...

"Now the three Americans are finding themselves on the defensive, saying they had no intention of helping stoke the kind of anger that could lead to what came next: a bill to impose a death sentence for homosexual behavior."

Words have power. Those who know they will be heard by thousands need to exercise some caution and care when they speak. If any gays are killed because of this , these "men of god" will bear some blame.

But curing homosexuality probably is the wrong terminology; it is not a disease but the result of sin, and the "cure" for that is Jesus.

Heard this report on the Uganda story on NPR this morning:

Seems that a lot of Christian ministries that have ties with Africa remained silent on this pending law for quite a while, until pressure started building up. Some STILL refuse to comment. In this situation, it sure appears that they approve of the idea of executing gays.
