As my story on Rep. Bill Faison's plans (or lack there of) to run for governor hit the Sunday paper (link), a Faison television commercial hit the airwaves on a Raleigh-area public affairs show, NC Spin.
My friends over at Dome report (link) that Faison spent $3,000 to put the ad on during the show. I can't imagine the actual reach of the ad as televised was all that great, but it's gotten a lot of free-media play, which is probably more valuable in the long run.
Faison does not make a pitch for voters in the ad. Instead, he promotes his jobs plan. Still, spending on a TV ad in a market outside your legislative district sure makes it look like you might have other ambitions in mind.
