Mistletoe changes: How did you like them?

Questions for Mistletoe runners, particularly the veterans in Winston-Salem:

The number of finishers combined in the half and 5K rose to 3,050, from 2,433 a year ago. Sure seems like a big success.

Among the changes in the event that I noted:

  • Packet pickup was moved from the gym to a racquetball court downstairs (which I think might've been what resulted in the races starting 30 minutes late).
  • Honestly, I'm not sure whether the post-race food was in the gym again or outside (I needed to leave as soon as the event ended, so I missed any of my traditional favorites such as hot dogs, pizza and Krispy Kreme).
  • The shirts are now short-sleeved technical vs. the traditional long-sleeved cotton.
  • Medals to finishers.
  • All might agree the White Family YMCA's focus on battling obesity is terrific.

How did you like the Mistletoe? What went well? What should be addressed? I'd like to consider your comments available for publication.

Thanks!

I enjoyed the mistletoe 5k course but the race was terribly organized. Packet pick up was a nightmare. Extremely long lines. Unacceptable that the race had to be delayed. The start should have been staggered by runner's pace.
the start felt like we were being herded thru a cattle gate. The race director will not return my calls either.
