Overall attendance for the Carolina Cup was around 5,000 for the 39th running of the race.
Dale Brown, owner of cycles de Orom, sent over some figures and reflections on Sunday's Carolina Cup bicycle race at Country Park.
There were a total of 359 licensed racers, 46 of which were children for a total of 405 total entries, which is a 10 percent increase from 2010.
Brown said that about $6,500 in cash and prizes were awarded. Most of the racers were from the Carolinas and Virginia, but some participants came from California and Seattle.
"No serious injuries (!)," he wrote in an email. "One notable crash but only resulting in "road rash" for 3 riders."
Planning for the next race on Sept. 9 in 2012 is underway, he said.
