The Senate passed the budget on second reading today. The chamber must vote one more time tomorrow to send the bill to the House for consideration. However, because the previous question was called, there will be no more debate on the floor.
The vote was 32-17 with three Republicans voting with Democrats to pass the measure:
Those names are not a surprise. All three sometimes vote with Democrats and have committee chairmanships or co-chairmanships to their names.
Slightly odd: Republican Sen. Harry Brown, of Jacksonville, was recorded as voting with Democrats to cut off debate by calling the previous question after delivering a fairly lengthy speech against the budget measure.
Noted: Sen. Charles Dannelly of Charlotte was absent today.
