Sheriff hopefuls file for candidacy, tackle social media

The state's campaign season officially began Monday and a few familiar faces filed for candidacy at local election boards to become — or remain — sheriff. Potential candidates have until noon Feb. 26 to file.

A bunch of the candidates have Web sites, Facebook and Twitter accounts to tell you about their plans. We've supplied the links, so click away.

Here are the filings from Monday:

Guilford County (Check filings here.)

* Harlon Costner of Royster Road in Greensboro is a Democrat. Follow Costner on Twitter or Facebook.
* Phil Wadsworth of Alliance Church Road in Pleasant Garden is a Democrat.
* BJ Barnes of Pleasant Ridge Road in Summerfield is a Republican. Barnes is the incumbent. Follow Barnes on Twitter or Facebook.

Davidson County (Check filings here.)

* Terry Price of North Wind Drive in Winston-Salem is a Republican. The Dispatch in Lexington accounts Price’s decision to run after losing, among four other candidates, the 2006 Republican nomination for sheriff to incumbent David Grice. Follow Price on Facebook.

Rockingham County (Check filings here.)

* Bryan K. Wallace of Snead Road in Stoneville is a Democrat.
* Sam Page of Madison Street in Eden is a Republican. Page is the incumbent. Follow Page of Facebook.
