Back in December November, I wrote a story about questions an SBOE audit had raised about Sen. Phil Berger’s campaign fundraising. The fouls found in that report included contributions from other political committees that didn’t match up and reports that seemed to show the committee taking in money from lobbyists after the session began.
At the time, Berger said all of those items were likely accounting/clerical errors of one sort or another and said he’d get them cleaned up ASAP.
And so he did.
“I am happy to advise that all issues covered in our letter of November 20, 2009 were resolved by your amended reports, and additional correspondence provided. The committee reports, through the 2009 Mid Year Semi Annual report, are considered in compliance with the Campaign Finance Laws as administered by the State Board of Elections,” wrote Jane Steffans, an education and disclosure specialist with the SBOE, in a letter to the committee.
