I know you don't really want to read about Cassie's successes with going to the bathroom, but you mothers out there are very quick to talk about your toddlers and their M&M's after "going potty." I see you on Facebook. So I see no reason why I can't tell you about Cassie's successes.
Cassie is about 3 and a half. We've had her since she was 6 months old. For about a year, she wouldn't "go pee-pee" outside our backyard. (I'm going to say "go pee-pee" here because that's our command for it). She wouldn't even go on walks. Not a drop. But the second we walked back inside our gate, she would go. In contrast, Greta has about five or six hot spots on the walk, favorite bushes or mailboxes throughout our morning route.
Maybe about one year into our tenure, Cassie found a spot, this one magical corner, where she sniffed and sniffed and found a mailbox. Why this one particular mailbox, I have no idea. But we hit the jackpot, and ever since then, Cassie has "gone pee-pee" at this mailbox just about every day for the past two years. I won't ever let Greta interrupt her; this is Cassie's magical spot for whatever reason.
But Cassie's tendency to not "go pee-pee" even outside our neighborhood had gotten so extreme that on a trip with her to my parents' house out of town a few months ago, it reached a boiling point. We arrived at my parents' house at roughly 4 p.m. It wasn't until maybe 11:30 p.m. that Cassie finally "went pee-pee." Seriously. That was on top of a two-hour car ride.
But one day last week, something even more magical than her finding the magical mailbox two years ago happened. As Greta squatted at one of her usual spots, Cassie squatted next to her. My jaw dropped. Then two days later, it happened again, twice during the same walk. Then again this morning, my two girls "went pee-pee" together.
I couldn't be more proud. My little girl has grown up. I wish I could give her some M&M's.
