Without question, this man doesn't deserve any compassion. But it could be that showing this compassion to the undeserving will serve a more important purpose: showing those who hate the Western civilizations that we aren't heartless.

Emotionally, I wouldn't have done this. But thinking a little more clearly, I can understand that it can be a good move.

It saves Scotland money. The guy started cancer in his privates area that spread to his bones and brain. Why would Scotland pay for terminal jail care when a plane to somewhere else is cheaper? If the criminal is not dead within three months then that would be a scam. There was no compassion shown by blowing up innocent humans over 20 years ago. This was not a compassionate release just economic.

I'm no Christian, but what the Scottish government did sounds very Christ-like in its compassion. And, as Dogwood pointed out, it also saves a heap of money. Good call.

It is interesting to note that the compassion aspect of this move by Scotland does coincide with advice from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Most interesting because last I saw, about 90% of the people in America are against showing compassion. Which means that an awful lot of Christians are against it.
