Betcha there's a log somewhere in the web content filtering sysem that would show who went where. Would that be public information?

All of the backup material is furnished to the BOE by electronic means. No (few) handouts. Most of the BOE members that are looking at a laptop are focused on the backup material associated with the issue at hand. You are not going to get the engaged kind of Board many of us would like as long as you have 11 members. The BOE should be about 7 members strong.

There are probably reading the News and Record online edition. I have heard that Allen Johnston and Doug Clark are good reads.

Joe is right, as least as far as I am concerned. Meeting materials are on line and available to not just members, but to the public as well. (If you can't find them at the GCS website, give me a call). Instead of printing them out, I read them on line.

I don't find that it is tough to view materials and remain engaged in the discussion. In fact, it is generally necessary to view the materials to fully understand the discussion as staff usually is referring to those materials as they make their presentations.

Ah, and then there's the paid-by-the-hour Jill Wilson. Have you ever sat behind her during a meeting? She likes to shop for cars online, look at airline prices, and sporting events while the board meeting is going on.

Although lately I've seen her put her screen down and at an angle so as to make sure those behind her can't see her surfing as well.

Jill has nothing to do and should not be at the meetings unless legal issures are expected to be addressed. Most of the School Boards do not have their paid by the hour attorney sitting on standby at every meeting. The Chair and the Supt. decide in the afternoon if she will be needed. If the answer is no, she does not come. Our legal fees are twice what they should be.

What about time sheets for paid by the hour eimployees. They need one for personal on line time and one for actually doing work for GCS.

A sign of sanity?
The dribble of information dispensed during these meeting would challenge the sanity of any quasi intelligent person. (You have a perfect right and duty to question the sanity of anyone who would run for School Board) Too much resource info is found on the WEB and those ADD folks as I must keep occupied or we might run out screaming our fool heads off. I believe little of what staff tells me and research all I can, in addition I often find material that contradicts statements made by staff. It has become a bit more boring with Terry gone as he would often have staff present such wonderfully misleading material that it was a challenge to keep up with the dubious oral ofal.

In all fairness to Jill Wilson, it's not her fault that she's asked to sit in a meeting where she's not needed. She's only at the meetings "on standby" just in case a legal opinion is needed. Like Joe says, this is a board problem, not an attorney problem.
