Spartans shock ninth-seeded Loyola in NCAA soccer

Corey Maret drilled home a shot shortly after a dangerous free kick by Jokull Elisabetharson with 7:49 left in sudden-death overtime to propel UNCG to a 2-1 upset victory over ninth-seeded Loyola College in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The Spartans (10-10-1) became the first team in the event's 50-year history to win two postseason games after entering with a losing record.
Nirav Kadam's follow of an Elisabethsarson shot with 16 minutes left tied it and sent it to ovetime.
In the 24th minute, the Greyhounds' Jamie Darvill chased down a long ball along the right sideline and delivered a perfect cross for Phil Bannister, who headed it home.
